Measure the shipped package
Product dimensions are not always the dimensions of the packed parcel. Protective material and box size affect freight cost. Record the packed weight and size of top SKUs and check the carrier calculation in your agreement.
Compare at order level
Track the gap between estimated and invoiced shipping by product and channel. Determine who pays for free-shipping promotions. A wrong assumption can make an unprofitable order appear healthy.

Fix in the right order
Separate bad data from inefficient packaging. A smaller box is no saving if it increases damage. After a change, review invoices and damage rates together.
