How to set price floors and approvals across sales channels
Protect contribution margin when campaigns, coupons and automated price changes overlap.

Calculate contribution by channel
The same product can have different marketplace fees, payment charges and shipping cost than on the web store. Base each channel’s price floor on product cost and variable expenses, not the displayed list price alone. Use current accounting records for tax treatment.
Make decision rights explicit
An operations team can update prices inside an approved range. Discounts below the margin floor, stacked coupons and free-shipping decisions should require managerial approval. Automatically copying a competitor’s price ignores your own cost base.
- Channel-specific price floor
- Rules for combined discounts
- Approval owner and expiry date
- Change log and rollback step
Measure the actual campaign result
More orders can still mean lower contribution. Compare product-level sales, returns, ad spend and contribution before and after the offer, then use the finding in the next pricing decision.
